I’m a bit of a sucker for a good case study video. This parody version by an agency in Germany (I think) does a really good job f showing how over the top the advertising industry can go on occasions.

Heineken Champions League stunt

I tweeted about this a few weeks ago, but it is so brilliant it should be shared here as well. Heineken hit the nail on the head with a superbly organised stunt that took place during the Real Madrid – AC Milan game last year, the reasoning is all spelled out in the video below. [...]
Dumbing down with Diesel

Another of the things I picked up on while in New York was the amount of space the ‘Be Stupid’ campaign by Diesel is getting around the city. All the stores have their windows full of the posters: And subway corridors were often solely occupied by varying ‘Be Stupid’ prints, you had to try very [...]
Beautiful Google video

This is a beautiful, simple ad for Google that falls within their Search Stories campaign. Apparently it is also due to be shown during the Super Bowl later today. Credit to @Will_Humphrey for bringing this to my attention.

The case study video for the recent campaign by Fallon for SyFy’s Alice. Nice integrated campaign, but even nicer running rabbit projection. Very clever!

Things that have inspired me during 2009: Ikea Facebook Take something everyone does (yet hate when others do it to them) and give people free stuff for doing it. This got the Ikea store in Malmo plenty of publicity via peoples Facebook walls. It also allowed them to then make a case study video for [...]
Brand slam

There has been a growing trend over the last year or two of American brands producing combative advertising that targets their competition. This used to be a frowned upon practise but apparently those frowns have been turned upside down (sorry!) to now be a norm of stateside ad tactics. This last week has brought it [...]

Sometimes you just need to know when to cut ties with a message that isn’t right…other times companies absolutely bottle it when they find that their ad brings a little negative attention towards their brand. Recently Microsoft decided to drop their IE8 ad featuring Dean Cain (formerly of TV’s Superman series) due to public pressure, [...]
Heineken: Can They Do No Wrong?

Here is the latest ad for Heineken in Ireland, created by McCann Erickson Dublin: It’s got a mass appeal, I mean, who hasn’t had the rush of that “oh crap” moment where they’ve nearly dropped a bottle at a friends party, only to give no consideration to the bottle itself; plus it’s funny! The ad [...]
Loewe – Taking You to the Opera

A nice creative ad for Loewe Sound that is currently being broadcast on German television. Views on this video will certainly increase dramatically in coming weeks as it has great viral potential and I predict we’ll be seeing a few parodies in the near future.
